Aleppo - SMART

On Thursday, the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) said that they killed and injured six Free Syrian Army (FSA) members, including a commander, in the Afrin area, 43 kilometers north of Aleppo, Northern Syria.

In a statement obtained by SMART, the YPG said that they killed Hamzah Farhah, a commander from the Sultan Murad Division of the FSA, and his driver on Wednesday by targeting a military vehicle that carried them in the al-Mahmoudiyah neighborhood of the city of Afrin.

The YPG said that they also targeted a vehicle carrying Abdullah al-Zarbah, a commander from the al-Shamal Brigade, and several fighters at the entrance of Afrin, with no accurate information about casualties.

The YPG added that they launched a military operation against the al-Sham Legion in the Jindayris area, Aleppo, killing two members of them and injuring three others.

On Wednesday, an explosive device planted in a Sultan Murad Division commander's car went off in Afrin city, destroying property only. Another explosive device went off on the same day in an al-Sham Legion's headquarters in the city of Jindayris, injuring one legion member.

The YPG attacks came as the Syrian Democratic Forces launch a series of security campaigns against the FSA factions and the Turkish Army after the SDF gained total control of the city of Afrin and its surrounding areas during the Olive Branch Operation in March 2018.
