Afrin, Syria, Mar. 18, 2018. The Free Syrian Army (FSA) gains control of the entire city of Afrin, Northern Aleppo, Northern Syria. There were no violent confrontations with the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG). The second and third divisions of the National Army, which is a coalition of FSA factions and Turkish military, entered Afrin without any resistance from the YPG. The FSA captured two YPG fighters. The Syrian National Army has advanced in several locations in the Afrin area during the Olive Branch operation. The coalition of FSA factions and Turkish military has gained total control of the border area between Turkey and Afrin, and also gained control of the five major regions of Bulbol, Rajo, al-Sheikh Hadid, Sharan, and Jindayris.
