Idlib, Syria, Apr. 9, 2018. Young men wear toxic gas masks during a protest in the city of Idlib, Northern Syria. The protest was organized by a number of civil society organizations, including the "Vanguard" group and the Civil Defense. The protesters expressed solidarity with the families of the victims of the chemical massacre in the city of Douma, Eastern Damascus, which killed and injured hundreds of civilians. Dozens of civilians were killed and more than a thousand others were injured by suffocation last Saturday evening after a toxic gas attack by the Syrian government, according to activists and medical sources. The attack has been condemned both domestically and internationally, and France demanded an emergency meeting in the United Nations Security Council. The meeting will be held at a later date.
