Aleppo, Syria, Aug. 4, 2018. Two children raise a banner reading, "No good in a nation forgets its detainees in prisons," during a protest that named "Day of popular anger" in the village of Kafrkarmin of the region of Mount Semaan, west of Aleppo, Northern Syria. About 20 people participated in the protest, demanding the Syrian government to reveal the fate of the remaining detainees and release them. The Syrian government revealed hundreds of prisoners’ fate in late July 2018. The Syrian government sent lists of dead prisoners to the government Civil Registry Directorates. In other cases, the Syrian government’ Military Police would contact the prisoners’ families and tell them to receive the dead prisoners’ documents.
