Afrin, Syria, Aug. 10, 2018. Fighters can be seen celebrating as the National Army graduates a military class of the al-Sultan Murad Division of the Second Corps of the National Army in the Nahiyat Rajo in the Afrin area in Aleppo, Northern Syria. The class included 220 fighters who underwent weapon training, military tactics training, and adapting to the environment in preparation for potential battles in the future. The National Army named the graduation class after the martyr Colonel Hassan al-Ahmad. The fighters graduated in different specializations, the most prominent of which were infantry and aerial defense, due to the urgent need for those specializations. On March 18, 2018, the National Army, Second Legion, and Third Legion of the Free Syrian Army took control of the entire city of Afrin without resistance by the Kurdish People's Protection Units. The opposition factions also took control of six municipalities; Bulbul, Rajo, al-Sheikh Hadeed, Sharan, Jindayris, and Mu'batli, following a military campaign in cooperation with the Turkish Army launched Jan. 21, 2018.
