Idlib, Syria, Apr.19, 2020. Dozens of demonstrators demonstrate in the city of Idlib, Northern Syria, to commemorate the ninth anniversary of the Clock Tower massacre committed by the Syrian government forces in the city of Homs by directly shooting at protesters in the Clock Tower Square on April 18, 2011. The shooting killed dozens of civilians, without accurate statistics of the victims’ numbers so far because the Syrian government forces seized the dead and injured people, arrested others, and cleaned the square directly after the massacre. The demonstrators took to the street despite recommendations of not to gather, and frequent warnings of the risk of coronavirus (COVID-19) spread among people in the area. Sides warned of a humanitarian disaster if any case of COVID-19 appears, as the area is overpopulated and lacks medical care.
