Al-Hayat Tahrir al-Sham advances in Hama and Idlib , explosion hits Iranian military airbase in Southern Aleppo, and talks about negotiations following military strike against Syrian government

On Sunday, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham(HTS) seized the city of Khan Sheikhoun and 16 villages and towns in the Southern Idlib countryside following clashes with the Syrian Liberation Front.  

Media outlets of HTS reported that HTS fighters seized the city of Khan Sheikhoun in addition to the village of Tall ‘as and its hill.HTS fighters entered the villages of al-Sheikh Mustafa, Mouqa, Kafr ‘ain, Maar Tamater, Jabala, Maar Zaita, Kafr Sajneh, Rakaya, Sajneh, Heish, Sahban, al-Sheikh Damis, Kafr Masdeh, Madaya, and al-’amiriya in Southern Idlib.

HTS reseized over the town of Mourek (27 kilometers north of Hama) in Central Syria following clashes with Syrian Liberation Front.

Local activists reported that HTS reseized the Mourek trade crossing leading to areas controlled by the Syrian government.

In Aleppo, reports contradicted an unknown explosion that hit an Iranian military airbase in the mountain of the village of Azan(16 kilometers south of Aleppo) in Northern Syria.

Local activists reported that the sound of the explosion echoed all around the area and flames were seen. The activists did not manage to specify the reason behind the explosion. However, other activists reported that suspected Israeli warplanes bombed the base. Israeli didn't issue a formal statement about bombing outposts in Syria.

An unknown device exploded in a camp for internally displaced persons near the city of Azaz(40 kilometers north of Aleppo) in Northern Syria, killing a child and injuring five other children.

In Southern Damascus, the government forces gained control over Eastern Ghouta in Damascus following the evacuation of the last group of internally displaced persons(IDPs)  from the city of Douma(14 kilometers east of Damascus).

In Daraa, On Saturday, the Free Syrian Army detected a group of Hezbollah militias in the city of Jasem(42 kilometers north of Daraa) in Southern Syria. The group was planning to target Israel and Jordan using rockets.

A military source, which preferred to be unknown, reported that the group included 20 members seven of Hezbollah and 12 of the supporters of reconciliation with the Syrian government. The security officer of Jaysh al-Ababeel detected the group. The source noted that they are still searching for other members of the group.

Government artillery forces shelled a camp for Palestinian refugees on the outskirts of the city of Daraa in Southern Syria, injuring eight civilians.

Iyad al-Hammadi, the head of the point 1 of the Civil Defense of Daraa, said that the government forces mortared civilians’ houses in the camp, adding that two civilians of the injured have significant injuries and they were transformed to the hospital of the town of  Tal Shihab.

In Eastern Syria, suspected international coalition bombings killed three of the Islamic State fighters and three captives in the village of al-’aliyat in Nahiyat Suseh(120 kilometers Southeastern of Deir Ez-Zor)

Political and International Updates:

The United States, Britain, and France distributed a draft resolution in the United Nations Security Council to start political negotiations about Syria. The draft resolution came hours after the states above carried out a military strike against the Syrian government forces due to the chemical massacre in the city of Douma.

The U.N Security Council refused a Russian draft resolution to condemn the U.S., British, and French military strike in Syria. The U.N Security Council considered the draft resolution violated international law and the U.N Charter.

On Saturday, Jean-Yves Le Drianthe French foreign minister stated that France wishes to resume the diplomatic process in Syria.  
LeDrianthe’ statements came hours after the military strike in which France participated along with the U.S.A. and Britain against the Syrian government forces’ outposts.  

NATO Secretary- General Jens Stoltenberg stated that the states members of NATO  support the military strike against the Syrian government.
