FSA confirms receiving decision of USA-led International Coalition forces’ withdrawal from al-Tanaf base; Turkey delays military operation east of the Euphrates river

The Jaysh Maghawir al-Thawra confirmed that it received an official report of the withdrawal of forces of the United States-led International Coalition against the Islamic State (IS) from the al-Tanaf military base near the Syrian-Jordanian border in Southern Syria. The Jaysh Maghawir al-Thawra added that they hope to open a safe passage for civilians and Free Syrian Army (FSA) fighters toward Northern Syria.  

About 30 percent of the residents of the city of Ras al-Ayn, northwest of al-Hasakah, Northeastern Syria, have fled after the decision of the US-troops withdrawal and the Turkish threats of launching a military operation in the area east of the Euphrates river, amidst a general alert by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).    

Over that last two days, the SDF detained 12 people north of the city of al-Raqqa, accusing them of communicating with the FSA. The detainees include six people from the village of al-Sharahrak, four from the village of al-Hisha, and two people from the village of al-Sekariah near the city of Tal Abyad, near the Syrian-Turkish border.

A landmine, left behind by the IS, exploded in the village of al-Souaidiah al-Saghira, west of al-Raqqa, injuring two civilians. Eyewitnesses said that one of the people was severely injured in his belly and legs, as both injured people were transported to the Modern Medicine Hospital in the city of al-Raqqa.

An SDF shelling on a residential neighborhood in the city of Hajin, east of Deir al-Zor, Eastern Syria, killed six children and two women of one family.

The committee of mosques of the town of al-Lataminah canceled the Friday prayers, fearing the Syria government forces bombings on mosques. The people expected a booming in retaliation to killing two Syrian government forces members by the FSA.

Poultry breeders from the Homs governorate complained about chicken prices, as it decreased from 650 Syrian pounds to 450 SYP, causing millions of SYP worth losses for the breeders.

About 600 people from the villages of Hor, Qabtan al-Jabal, Termanin, Killa, Babis, Dahiat al-Kahruba, Ainjara, Bashantra, and al-Mansoura demonstrated in Hor, Western Aleppo, Northern Syria. The demonstrators confirmed the continuation of the Syrian Revolution and refused negotiations with the Syrian government.

Dozens of people demonstrated in the city of Baza’a, east of Aleppo, calling on Tukey to launch a military operation in the area east of the Euphrates river. The Demonstrators raised banners and cried out against the SDF, the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, and the IS.

In Idlib, dozens of people demonstrate in the village of Kafr Ouayed, Southern Idlib, Northern Syria, in the seventh memory of the Badmaya Valley massacre, committed by the Syrian government forces against civilians. The demonstrators also expressed solidarity with the Sudanese people who are protesting against Omar Hassan al-Bashir.  

In Daraa, people demonstrated in the city of Daraa al-Balad, Daraa, Southern Syria, to condemn men from the who recently joined the Syrian government forces. The demonstrators also demanded to release the detainees from the Syrian government prisons and denounced the settlements concluded in the Daraa governorate. 

International and political news:

On Friday, the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced delaying the military operation in Northeastern Syria after the decision of withdrawing US troops from the area.  

In a speech during the Largest Service Exporters Award Ceremony in Istanbul, Erdogan said that a phone call with the US President Donald Trump and US statements he decided to delay the military operation in Syria, adding that this is not an open-ended waiting period.

Mevlut Cavusoglu, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, welcomed the decision to withdraw the US troops from Syria, confirming the importance of cooperation between Ankara and Washington.  

In a statement published on its official website, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that it discusses the conditions and time of withdrawing the US troops from Syria with other countries of the International Coalition, adding that it will give special privilege from the USA allies, including the SDF.

The US Defense Minister James Mattis announced his resignation after the decision to withdraw the US troops from Syria and Afghanistan, saying in his letter to Trump that his views are not aligned with Trump’s views and that it is right for him to step down his position.   

The USA considered the Russian initiative in Sochi to form a constitutional committee for Syria had reached a blocked road, adding that if Russia did not convey a legitimate, credible, and balanced legal committee before the end of 2018, then Russia is to blame for this failure.  

A fire broke out after a short circuit in a camp for Syrian refugees in the town of Saad Nayel in the Beqaa area in Lebanon, burning four tents. No casualties among the refugees were reported.
