Car bomb explosion injures US soldier and Asayish fighters in al-Hasakah; Israel announces open war against Iran in Syria

On Monday, a car bomb explosion targeted an International Coalition convoy as it passed near the city of al-Hasakah, Northeastern Syria, injuring two Asayish forces and a United States (US) soldier at an early count.

Political and international updates:

On Monday, Yisrael Katz, the Israeli Intelligence and Transportation minister stated that Israel entered public and opened war against Iran and will not allow it to remain in Syria. Aziz Nassir Zadeh, the Iranian Air Forces commander, said that Iran is ready to respond to Israel and crush it.   

Katz added in a talk with the Israeli Army Radio that Israel’s policy towards Iran has changed and the confrontation is opened now. Katz said, “We will get intense the confrontation when necessary (...) Every country which attacks us will pay a heavy price”, according to Russia Today.

Geir Pedersen, the United Nations (UN) special envoy to Syria emphasized the need to implement the resolution 2254 to activate the political settlement and ensure the Syrian refugees’ return.

Pedersen said as he met the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow that he hopes that Russia and the UN work by the UNSecurity Council resolution 2254 to activate the political settlement and achieve the conditions of the refugees’ return to Syria.
