Residents reject decision of HTS and SNA to open crossings with Syrian government
Aleppo - SMART
Residents and activists protested against the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham's (HTS) attempts to open a crossing near the village of Mizanaz in the western Aleppo countryside, Northern Syria. The HTS opened fire at protesters in the location of the crossing. The shooting killed a civilian and injured others. Activists revealed to SMART that there are plans to organize demonstrations against crossings that the Syrian National Army (SNA) opens with the Syrian government and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
The HTS has been trying to open the crossing since April 28, 2020. The residents responded by blocking the road between the Syrian government-controlled village of Mizanaz and the village of Maaret al-Naasan, which is outside Syrian government control. The HTS brought in military reinforcements to open the road by force. The HTS opened fire at the protesters, killing a civilian and injuring seven others.
