HTS and NLF exchange control of villages in Northern Syria as clashes expand

On Wednesday, the National Liberation Front (NLF) advanced in eastern and southern Idlib, Northern Syria, following clashes with the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS). No information about either sides’ casualties was reported.

Local activists reported that the NLF entered neighborhoods in the city of Saraqib, eastern Idlib, clashing with HTS.

On Thursday, the HTS seized three villages in southern Idlib, following clashes with the NLF.

On Wednesday, the National Army of the Syrian Interim Government sent military reinforcements to the western Aleppo countryside, Northern Syria, to confront the HTS that fights the NLF in Aleppo and Idlib.

On Wednesday, the Suqur al-Sham Brigades issued an Islamic ruling that allows fighting the HTS in Northern Syria.

On Thursday, the Islamic Syrian Council called on the Free Syrian Army (FSA) to eliminate the HTS.

Civil and military groups urged HTS fighters in southern Idlib to defect and hand their weapons over to the military councils in the area, amidst constant clashes between the NLF and HTS.

The Free Aleppo University and Teacher Training Institution of the Syrian Interim Government closed their doors in the city of Atarib in Western Aleppo until Saturday due to the clashes.

On Wednesday, FSA factions repelled a Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) infiltration attempt near the city of Mari (30 kilometers north of Aleppo).

On Wednesday, the Islamic State killed SDF fighters in an ambush near the Iraqi border in eastern Deir al-Zor, Eastern Syria.

The Autonomous Defense Forces of the Autonomous Administration downed a Turkish drone over the al-Malikiyah area, which is adjacent to the Turkish border in the al-Hasakah governorate, Northeastern Syria.

Hundreds of Syrian and Iraqi families arrived in the al-Houl camp, 70 kilometers south of al-Hasakah, coming from eastern Deir al-Zor.

On Wednesday, the Action Group for Palestinians of Syria published a report documenting 82 Palestinian refugees tortured to death in Syrian government prisons in 2018.
