HTS gains control of Atarib in Aleppo; SDF captures IS members in Deir al-Zor

On Sunday, the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) gained control of the city of Atarib in western Aleppo, Northern Syria, following an agreement with dignitaries to run security and military issues in Atarib.

On Sunday, 1,000 people left Atarib for the Afrin area, Northern Aleppo, after the HTS entered the city.

The HTS closed three crossings with areas controlled by the Free Syrian Army factions of the Euphrates Shield Operation and Olive Branch Battle in Aleppo.

On Sunday, the Syrian government forces sent a military convoy of dozens of vehicles to Northern Syria.

On Sunday, the Syrian government opened the Mourek crossing in northern Hama, Central Syria. The crossing links areas controlled by the Syrian government with those controlled by opposition factions.

Palestinian refugees in the al-Nayrab camp in Aleppo complained about the unregulated spread of weapons among the Syrian government forces and loyalist militias.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) documented the killing of 91 medical, Civil Defense, and Red Crescent staff in Syria in 2018. The SNHR also documented 91 assaults on medical facilities.

Political and international updates:

The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that he will discuss the situation in Syria with the United States National Security Advisor John Bolton later on Sunday.

On Sunday, Bolton stated that Turkey must agree on protecting the Kurds allied with the US in Northern Syria as a new condition for the US forces’ withdrawal.
