On Mar. 2, 2018, factions of the Free Syrian Army (FSA), which participate in the Olive Branch Operation, gain control of the villages of Mamli Tahtani, Mamli Fawqani, and Musaku in Nahiyat Raju, northwest of Afrin, after clashes with the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG). According to sources from the battle, the clashes resulted in the killing of at least one members of the YPG, while one fighter of the FSA was wounded. The factions seized light machine guns and ammunition. On Jan. 21, the Turkish Army and wings of the FSA began their first ground attack as part of the Olive Branch Operation in Afrin, controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). They gained control of several villages and strategic hills, during the clashes.
