Afrin, Syria, Mar. 7, 2018. Free Syrian Army (FSA) factions and Turkish military gain control the strategic Midanki dam in Nahiyat Sharan, northeastern Afrin, Northern Aleppo, Northern Syria. The FSA factions also gained control of the villages of Halobi Zaghir, Mash’ala, Kafr Jana, and the adjacent camp, which used to be a Russian military outpost before the start of the Olive Branch Operation. On Jan. 21, 2018, the Turkish Army and FSA factions launched the first ground attack as a part of the Olive Branch Battle in the Afrin area, which until now has been controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces. The factions have gained control of Afrin’s border with Turkey, and the clashes continue.
