Saraqib, Syria, May 3, 2018. Security chaos and a number of incidents of abduction and killing have taken place in the city of Saraqib east of Idlib, Northern Syria. In recent days, the incidents have also targeted women and children. The people of the city called on security services and military factions in order to control this security situation, after a woman and her child were kidnapped in broad daylight on May 1, 2018. The commander of the free police center in Saraqib, Awwad Abu Muhammad, said that support for free police has been suspended since November 2017, and security can not be maintained in the city without the participation of all security services, and families of civilians and militants. Activists and journalists in Idlib called for banning militants in area from concealing their faces with masks. They also called on factions to better shoulder their responsibility of protecting civilians. This occurs after a wave of assassinations by masked perpetrators killed 15 people.
