Al-Raqqa, Syria, Nov. 19, 2018. The al-Raqqa Civil Council rehabilitates the Syriatel cellular communication network owned by Rami Makhlouf, cousin of the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, in the al-Raqqa governorate, Northeastern Syria. Ali al-Mohaysin, manager of the communication office for the al-Raqqa Civil Council's Communication and Energy Committee, said that the committee is removing the rubble from the al-Raqqa and al-Mashlab neighborhood communication centers and will install the equipment it received from the Syriatel Cellular Communication Service Team in the al-Hasakah governorate. After installing the equipment, the committee will connect the two centers with the al-Khayalah and al-Mahmoudly towers via satellites. In January 2017, the Syriatel network resumed working in Kurdish People's Protection Units-controlled areas in Northern Aleppo after a four-year interruption.
