On Saturday, the Ishraq Development Team organized a demonstration in the town of Urum al-Kubra, 20 kilometers west of Aleppo, Northern Syria, to raise awareness about heritage sites in the Syrian government forces-controlled city of Aleppo. A demonstrator who introduced himself as Abu Mahmoud said that the demonstration aims to raise awareness about Aleppo’s heritage sites and “to renew the hope of returning to the city and restoring its civilization.” Abu Mahmoud added that that the demonstrators raised pictures of the Citadel of Aleppo, the clock tower, and the Aleppo University. The city of Aleppo includes more than 150 archeological sites, such as the city gates, ancient markets, churches, and mosques.
