Idlib, Syria, Jan. 18, 2019. The Assi River flooded roads in the town of Darkoush, western Idlib, Northern Syria, and farmlands near it, due to the heavy rainfall that raised the water level in the river, forcing people to travel by boat. Mohammad Dabal, a farmer, said that the increase in the river's water level affected fruit trees and destroyed crops planted near the river. The water level in the Ayn al-Zarqaa area of the Orontes reached eight meters high to the area's location between two mountains, which forms waterfalls that feed the river.
