Aleppo, Syria, Jan. 21, 2019. The Democratic Civilization Administration of the Kurdish Autonomous Administration in the city of Manbij, east of the city of Aleppo, Northern Syria, stated that they refuse a Turkish administration for the planned safe zone in Northeastern Syria. Muhammad Kheir, a member of the executive office of the Democratic Civilization Administration, stated that they support establishing a safe zone in Northeastern Syria to ensure security and stability in the area on the condition that the safe zone would be sponsored by the United Nations and not only by Turkey, as the latter requested. Earlier, the Syrian Democratic Forces stated that they are ready to help to establish the safe zone in Northeastern Syria on the condition that they obtain "international guarantees" and that they establish the zone without any "external intervention."
