Idlib, Syria, Feb. 23, 2020. Displaced people from the village of Kafr Nouran in western Aleppo, Northern Syria, to the Maarrat Misrin area, northern Idlib, seek refuge in a cave, fleeing the military campaign launched by the Syrian government forces and Russia in the area. Yousef Wilfi, a displaced man residing in the cave, says that several people had to seek refuge in the cave due to the lack of shelters and tents, despite the poor humanitarian conditions that they endure, and the risk from different diseases and insects inside the cave. The Syrian government forces and their allied militias, supported by Russia, are launching a ground attack on the southern and western Aleppo countryside, and the southern and eastern Idlib countryside. During this attack, the Syrian government forces gained control of dozens of villages and towns in the area, after intense bombings. The bombings killed and injured hundreds of civilians and forced hundreds of thousands to displace.
