Berlin, Germany, June 19, 2020. Dozens of Syrians demonstrate in the German capital, Berlin, in support of the sanctions imposed on the Syrian government according to the Caesar Syria Civilian Protection Act.
Syrian actor Abdul Hakim Qteifan, who participated in the demonstration, said that they hope the Caesar Act will protect the Syrian people, as for nine years the international community has not protected them although they have been suffering from displacement and shelling of chemical weapons and all kinds of weapons.
On Dec. 12, 2019, the United States House of Representatives approved the Caesar Syria Civilian Protection Act to sanction the Syrian government and its supporters. The act was named after the photographer who leaked tens of thousands of photos of prisoners who were tortured to death in Syrian government prisons. The Caesar Act entered into force on June 1, 2020.
