Idlib, SMART

On Monday, the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) arrested 30 internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Southern Damascus in the city of Salqin, Idlib in Northern Syria. The HTS accused the detainees of being members of the Islamic State (ISIS).

Local activists reported that the arrest of the IDPs came following raids in the city conducted by the HTS. The detainees included ten women, mostly from Russia and Algeria, who the Syrian government forces evacuated from the al-Hajar al-Aswad neighborhood in Southern Damascus.

Thousands of civilians and ISIS fighters evacuated al-Yarmouk camp and al-Hajar al-Aswad neighborhood in Southern Damascus following a violent Syrian government military campaign. The Syrian government forces regained control of the area. ISIS fighters headed to the Syrian desert, while their families headed to the Idlib governorate.
