United Nations Security Council will hold session to discuss situation in Idlib
Turkey - SMART
The United States Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley stated that the UN Security Council will hold a session to discuss the recent situation in Idlib on Friday.
On Tuesday, suspected Russian airstrikes killed 14 civilians and injured dozens in Western Idlib, Northern Syria.
In a press conference on Tuesday, Haley said, "(...) this is a tragic situation, and if they want to continue to go the route of taking over Syria they can do that, but they cannot do it with chemical weapons."
The US heads the UN Security Council September session, which Washington called to discuss the situation in Idlib.
The recent bombings on Idlib follow the Syrian government forces' military mobilization in Idlib, which could be a sign of a potential Russian-backed military operation in the governorate.
