Syrian National Liberation Front receives weapons from Turkey
On Thursday, a source from the Syrian National Liberation Front (NLF) reported that they received weapons, including Tao missiles from Turkey to repel the Syrian government forces’ potential attack on the Idlib governorate, Northern Syria.
The SNLF is an opposition group formed by the two Sunni Islamist groups Ahrar al-Sham and the Nour al-Din al-Zenki Movement. HTS is the main rival of the Syrian Liberation Front in Northwestern Syria.
The source added that the weapons also included artillery missiles and rockets, which arrived in Idlib a week ago. The sources noted that the SNLF distributed the weapons across five operation rooms that include all SNLF’ factions in the area.
On Friday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan tweeted saying that Ankara will not stand back and watch if the world ignores the killing of tens of thousands of civilians to serve the Syrian government’ interests. Erdogan stressed the need to reach a peaceful solution in Idlib.
Sending the weapons coincides with the Syrian government and Russia increased threats to storm Idlib, amid recent bombings that killed and injured dozens of civilians. The bombings destroyed vital centers, depriving thousands of civilians of basic services, and displacing hundreds of families.
