On Saturday, a missile shelling targeted the Damascus International Airport near Damascus.

Local sources reported that people heard explosions from the airport area, and ambulances were called to it. The sources assumed that there were killed and injured people.

Pro-Syrian government media channels reported from a military source that an Israeli shelling targeted the airport, adding that the Syrian government's air defense intercepted the missiles.

Israel did not deny or confirm the shelling so far.

On Sept. 4, 2018, pro-Syrian government media channels said that Israeli warplanes launched missiles on military locations in the governorates of Homs, Hama, and Tartous, Central and Western Syria. The channels reported that the shelling killed and injured unknown people.

In recent months, Israeli officials have attacked Iran and the Syrian government, after a well-known Israeli official threatened to kill the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and end his regime. Earlier, the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, "It would be best to block Iran soon."
