Idlib - SMART
The Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) detains three activists who organized demonstrations in the city of Dana, 35 kilometers north of Idlib, Northern Syria.
The HTS is an Islamist opposition faction previously known as the al-Nusra Front, consisting of fighting groups including the Haqq Brigade, Jabhat Ansar al-Din, and Jaysh al-Sunnah. The HTS operates in areas of Idlib and Aleppo, Northern Syria.
On Tuesday, activists reported that the HTS detained Fadel al-Qash, Ahmad Aref, and Othman Yehia, who are members of the Dana Coordination Center. The HTS detained the three members after a disagreement.
In March 2018, the HTS detained several staff from the Molham Volunteering Team on the pretext of "security suspicions." The HTS also detained guards of the al-Zira'a Hospital and bus drivers of the Violet Organization in Idlib to prevent meetings between women and men.
