Rif Dimashq - SMART

On Sunday, the Syrian government administration of the al-Quneitra governorate called upon dozens of forcibly displaced (FDP) families to return to al-Quneitra from the Jadidat Artouz al-Fadl area in the Western Damascus countryside.

A local source reported that upon instruction by the al-Baa’th Party, the al-Quneitra Governorate Council warned 200 FDP families residing in the al-Khaiyat buildings to return to the towns and villages of Mashara, Jaba, and Nab’ al-Sakhr.

The source added that Syrian government forces bombings destroyed the FDP families’ houses and properties.

The source noted that there were 700 FDP families in the buildings, but most of them returned to al-Quneitra.

The al-Quneitra Governorate Council has administrative responsibility for all of al-Quneitra and some towns and neighborhoods in western Rif Dimashq, in which FDP reside because of the Israeli occupation of the Golan Heights.

The Syrian government seized al-Quneitra after an agreement with the opposition factions in July, 2018. The opposition factions controlled villages near the Golan Heights, which Israel has occupied since 1967.
