Idlib - SMART

On Thursday, the family of Raed al-Fares said that investigations about the assassination of the two distinguished media activists, Raed Fares and Hamoud Juneid would continue until finding the killer and prosecute them.

On Nov. 23, 2018, unknown killers assassinated the two media activists in the city of Kafr Nubl, Idlib, Northern Syria. Hundreds of people participated in their funeral in the city.

Fateh al-Sheikh, a dignitary from the family, reported that they communicated with several parties, including military factions, and all parties showed a willingness to know the killers of the two activists and to prosecute them.

Al-Sheikh said that parties who are affected by the Syrian Revolution are behind the assassination, adding unknown parties threatened, watched, and followed Raed.

Al-Sheikh added that the assassinators aimed to silence the voice that transferred the suffering of people inside Syria to the world. Al-Sheikh called the colleagues of Raed and Hamoud to continue their path.

Earlier, the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham detained Fares and Juneid for their revolutionary and political activities in the Syrian Revolution. In 2014, unknown veiled persons attempted to assassinate Fares.

Peaceful activists in Syria suffered throughout the Syrian Revolution from restrictions, detentions, and assassinations, in addition to other practices of physical abuse, as several of the activists were tortured to death.
