Russian missile shelling injures child west of Idlib
Idlib - SMART
On Monday, a Russian missile shelling on the village of Baksray in the Jisr al-Shughur area, 30 kilometers west of Idlib, Northern Syria, injured a child.
Hussam Zleito, the head of the Bdama village's Civil Defense, reported that Russian battleships targeted the perimeter of the village with a ballistic missile, injuring one child. The missile shelling coincided with Russian airstrikes on the villages of Maraand and al-Zaainah, Western Idlib.
Syrian government forces targeted the Jisr al-Shughur area with missiles from their bases in the Jurin camp, according to activists.
In September 2018, a suspected Russian bombing on the Jisr al-Shughur perimeter killed four civilians, including a woman, during a Syrian government forces attempt to storm the area.
The Jisr al-Shughur area is included in the Turkish-Russian agreement of September 2018. The agreement calls for the establishment of a demilitarized zone in several areas in Northern Syria.
