Educational facilities in Western Aleppo close due to clashes between military factions

The Free Aleppo University and the Teacher Training Institute of the Syrian Interim Government in al-Atarib, Western Aleppo, Northern Syria, closed its doors due to clashes between the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and the National Liberation Front (NLF) in the region.

On Thursday, students from the Free Aleppo University reported that the university informed them that it will stay closed until Saturday due to clashes between the two factions. The students reported that the university closed on Wednesday.

The Teacher Training Institute also published a brief statement on its Facebook page saying that it will remain closed from Wednesday until Saturday for safety reasons.

In a statement, the Computer Engineering Department and the Technical Institute of the Aleppo University announced their closure on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, clashes broke out between the HTS and the NLF to include the eastern and southern outskirts of Idlib. Two days ago, the clashes began in the neighboring Western Aleppo.

On Tuesday, clashes re-erupted between the HTS and Nour al-Din al-Zenki Movement of the NLF in Western Aleppo. The HTS attacked al-Zenki Movement sites in Darat Izzah from the villages of Taqad, Khan al-Asal and Termanin, killing and injuring fighters on both sides as well as civilians.
