Idlib and Hama health directorate staff work voluntarily after suspension of financial support

On Wednesday, the Free Health Directorate staff in the governorates of Hama and Idlib, Central and Northern Syria, started to work voluntarily after the directorates' financial support was suspended.
The Free Idlib Health Directorate stated to SMART that all its staff, including medical staff at health facilities, stopped receiving salaries five days ago, prompting them to work on a voluntary basis.
The Free Idlib Health Directorate provided the names of 33 hospitals and clinics in Idlib that received support from the directorate.
The Free Hama Health Directorate stated briefly that its staff, including hospital and health center staff, will work voluntarily, and that the directorate no longer has any financial obligations.
On Tuesday, the German Technical Cooperation Agency suspended its support of medical projects and the Free Health Directorates in Aleppo, Hama, and Idlib until further notice.
The Free Idlib Health Directorate demanded the neutralization of the medical sector from the recent military and political tension in the area after the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) gained control of the area.
The German agency suspend its support after days of clashes between the HTS and Free Syrian Army in the Idlib, Aleppo, and Hama governorates. The clashes caused civil institutions, schools, universities, and police departments to shut down.
