Displaced man dies as result of fire in camp, western Idlib
Idlib - SMART
On Monday, a displaced man died after a fire broke out in a camp for forcibly displaced people near the village of Khirbat al-Jawz in western Idlib, Northern Syria.
Local activists reported that the fire broke out due to the misuse of the heater, noting that the Civil Defense fire team was able to extinguish it before extending it to the rest of the tents.
On Jan 25, a fire broke out at the Ihsan camp near the village of Atma, northern Idlib, on the Syrian-Turkish border, causing only material damage.
The fire incidents repeatedly occur in Northern Syria, especially in the refugee camps, due to the widespread use of non-refined fuel, and the lack of children’s awareness to use the fuel, causing fires that killed and injured a number of civilians, including children and women.
