Unknown shooters kill HTS fighter in northern Idlib

On Wedensday, unknown shooters killed a Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) fighter near the town of Maarrat Misrin, 10 kilometers north of Idlib, Northern Syria.

The HTS is an Islamist opposition faction previously known as the al-Nusra Front, consisting of fighting groups including the Haqq Brigade, Jabhat Ansar al-Din, and Jaysh al-Sunnah.

Local activsts reported that the victim was Egyptian and known as Abu Mus'ab al-Masri. Al-Masri was a preacher in a mosque in the village of Sayjar, and was shot on the road to Maarrat Misrin, killing him instantly.

On Thursday, unknown shooters killed an HTS fighter and injured another near the city of Khan Sheikhoun, southern Idlib.

Assassinations and explosions are common in the areas controlled by the Free Syrian Army and Islamist battalions in Aleppo and Idlib, targeting military commanders and fighters. The explosions killed and injured civilians as well.
