IRT retrieves 13 bodies from al-Raqqa governorate

On Thursday, the Initial Response Team (IRT) of the al-Raqqa Civil Council retrieved 13 bodies from the al-Raqqa governorate in Northeastern Syria.
Sources from the IRT reported to SMART reported that the team retrieved 11 bodies, including the bodies of two armed persons, from a mass grave near the village of Fkhiekah. The sources also said that people identified four of the bodies that were delivered to their families.
The IRT also retrieved two bodies from under the rubble of a residential building in the al-Thakanah neighborhood; one of the bodies belongs to a woman.
The sources added that the team buried the unidentified bodies in the Tal al-Baiah cemetery near the city of al-Raqqa.
On Jan. 22, 2019, the al-Raqqa Civil Council started retrieving bodies from the al-Fkheikha mass grave. The teams estimated that this mass grave contained between 600 and 800 bodies.
