Hama - SMART
On Thursday, the Jaysh al-Izzah faction of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) attacked a Syrian government forces checkpoint in northern Hama, Central Syria, killing and injuring five members.
Fajr Ismael, a media officer for the Jaysh al-Izzah, told SMART that the latter targeted the Syrian government forces Zillin checkpoint with an anti-tank missile, killing and injuring four Syrian government forces members, who were transported to the Mhardeh Hospital, and destroying a missile launcher.
Ismael said that Jaysh al-Zaah fighters killed another Syrian government forces member using a sniper shot.
Activists said that earlier, the Syrian government forces targeted the villages of Tall al-Sakher and al-Arabain, and the cities of al-Lataminah and Mourik, all in northern Hama, with heavy artillery and mortar shells from bases in Braydij, Tall Bazam, al-Hamamiyat, and the Zillin checkpoint.
Russian forces also targeted the cities of Kafr Zayta, Mourik, and al-Lataminah with heavy artillery and missile shells from bases in the al-Tarabee military camp, south of the city of Halfaya, and the Qubaybat al-Huda military camp, destroying property and not causing casualties.
Days earlier, members from the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham Islamist faction infiltrated Syrian government forces bases in northern Hama, killing and injuring several Syrian government forces members.
The Syrian government forces frequently targeted areas in the de-militarized zone, which Turkey and Russia agreed to create in the Idlib governorate, with artillery and missile shells, and launched military operations against FSA and Islamist battalions' bases in the area. The shelling, battles, and other attacks by the HTS and the Guardians of Religion Islamist faction killed and injured members from all parties.
