Al-Hasakah - SMART
On Tuesday, the administration of the Semalka crossing on the Turkish-Iraqi border, Northeastern Syria, closed the crossing due to a weather depression.
The crossing’s administration reported that the crossing is closed due to heavy snow and frost, without further details.
On Monday, the Kurdish Autonomous Administration suspended school in the al-Raqqa and Deir al-Zor governorates, in addition to northern Aleppo, due to the weather depression and low temperatures.
A weather depression affects most Syrian governorates, causing temperatures to drop below their levels, amid expectations of snowfall in southern Syria and several cities. Weather forecasters warned against the effects of cold air mass and frost formation.
On Feb. 9, 2020, weather forecasters expected snow fall on the southern Syrian governorates, the al-Qalamoun area, the cities of Palmyra, Homs and its countryside, the city of Masyaf in western Hama, several towns of al-Ghab Plain, the Tartus countryside, and the eastern al-Hasakah countryside.
