Al-Raqqa – SMART

On Saturday, the Initial Response Team (IRT) of the al-Raqqa Civil Council retrieved eight new bodies from the al-Raqqa governorate, Northeastern Syria.

A source from the Team reported to SMART that they retrieved eight unidentified bodies from under a destroyed building in the al-Haramiah neighborhood, in the al-Raqqa city center. The IRT retrieved the bodies after resident complained about bad odors coming from the building.

The source added that they also retrieved five bodies from the 25th al-Hamrat Grave in the Tal Zeidan area, eat of al-Raqqa, as the Team started working on this grave days ago. The source also said that the IRT delivered two bodies for their families, while they transported the rest of the bodies to a private grave.

The IRT continues retrieving bodies from mass graves left after bombings of the United States-led International Coalition and battles with the Islamic State.
