Iranian Foreign Minister visits Damascus on Monday

On Sunday, Abbas Musawi, the spokesperson of Iran's Foreign Ministry said that Mohammad Javad Zarif will visit Damascus on Monday to hold talks with Syrian officals.
The Iranian News Agency quoted Musawi as saying that Zarif will meet the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Syria's Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem for one day. Musawi added that they will discuss bilateral relations, regional updates, field and political changes rlated to fighting terrorism in Syria.
Earlier, al-Assad met Ali Khamenei, the Iranian Supreme Leader in Tehran, in an unannounced meeting of the visit that was al-Assad’s first one to Tehran that supports him politically and militarily against the Syrian Revolution.
Iran is one of the Syrian government’s major supporters on military and political fields, as it sent militias to fight with the Syrian government. Iran tries to enhance its power in Syria on the economic and religious stages. Iran signed economic agreements and purchased real estate and lands in the Syrian government-controlled areas.
