Syria - SMART

On Monday, the Syrian government accused Israel of targeting bases from Lebanese airspace.

Syrian government media channels reported that the Syrian government forces responded to an Israeli missile bombing from the airspace of Southern Lebanon toward Syria. The Syrian government forces managed to shoot down several missiles, mentioning that the shelling destroyed property only with no casualties.

However, Israel did not claim responsibility of targeting Syrian government forces or Iranian bases in Syria.

On Apr. 21, 2020, the Syrian government also accused Israel of shelling bases in the city of Palmyra, eastern Homs, Central Syria.

On Mar. 31, 2020, missile shelling targeted the Shayrat military airport in Homs and the Syrian government accused Israel of conducting the attack.

Israel has targeted Syrian government forces bases and Iranian convoys and bases in Syria. On Jan. 15, 2019, Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel, said, “"I'm telling you, get out of there fast. We won’t stop attacking."
