Explosive device injures two SDF members in southern al-Raqqa

An explosive device, planted by unknown persons, injured two Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) members near the Scientific Research building, southern al-Raqqa, Northeastern Syria.
The SDF is mainly comprised of the Kurdish People's Protection Units in addition to Arab, Turkmen, and Assyrian/Syriac military factions. The SDF is supported by the United States-backed International Coalition against the Islamic State and fought them in al-Raqqa, Deir al-Zor, Aleppo, and al-Hasakah in Northeastern Syria.
On Sunday, a source from the Asayish forces of the Kurdish Autonomous Administration reported to SMART that an explosive device targeted an SDF vechile on the Aleppo-al-Raqqa road, injuring two members. The members were transported to the al-Raqqa Military Hospital.
Earlier on Jan. 21, 2020, a device exploded in the al-Raqqa city center, injuring two SDF members.
The al-Raqqa governorate became home for frequent explosions of landmines and devices left behind by the Islmaic State (IS), in addition to car bombs. The explosions killed and injured people, most of them civilians. The IS claimed resposability for several explosions.
