Al-Hasakah - SMART

On Thursday, fires burnt over 110 dunam of barley and wheat in the al-Hasakah governorate, Northeastern Syria.

A source from the al-Hasakah Firefighting Regiment of the Kurdish Autonomous Administration reported that they extinguished several fires that broke out in different farmlands in the Mafraq Sadik area, al-Milabiya, and Mujarjii, and the villages of Barzan and Sayyid Ali in al-Hasakah.

The source added that the fires have burnt over 1,900 dunam in al-Hasakah governorate and its countryside since last week.

On May 16, 2020, fires burnt about ten hectares (100 dunam) of barley in the Safiya area, 7 kilometers north of al-Hasakah.

The Autonomous Administration and Syrian government share joint control of the al-Hasakah, al-Raqqa, and Deir al-Zor that are Syria’s richest areas in producing barley and wheat.
