Unknown persons assassinate SNA member in northern Aleppo

On Friday night, unknown persons assassinated a member of the Sultan Murad Division of the Syrian National Army (SNA) near the city of Afrin, 43 kilometers north of the city of Aleppo, Northern Syria.

Local sources reported to SMART that unknown persons killed the member with an AK-47 machinegun near the village of Mashaalah in the Sharran area, northeast of Afrin. The sources added that the shooters targeted the member with more than 20 bullets.  

The sources mentioned that the assassination circumstances are still unknown, expect for the name of the member, Muhammad Ahmad Mubarak, who is from Homs, Central Syria. 

On June 24, 2019, unknown persons assassinated a commander of the Suleyman Shah Division in the Maabatli area in the Afrin countryside, while earlier, a similar assassination attempt injured officer of the military police in Afrin.

Opposition factions and Islamist battalions-controlled areas in the Idlib and Aleppo governorate became home for assassinations and explosions, targeting commanders and fighters, and resulting in killing and injuring civilians.
