Rif Dimashq - SMART
On Sunday night, dozens of people demonstrated in the Syrian government-controlled town of Zakyah, 29 kilometers south of Damascus, demanding the overthrow of the Syrian regime and the release of detainees in its prisons.
Local sources in the area reported to SMART that about 60 people demonstrated in the town, demanding the overthrow of the Syrian regime and the release of detainees in its prisons. The sources added that the demonstration ended quickly without any security incidents.
Earlier on Monday, dozens of people protested high price and the collapse of the Syrian pound value in the Syrian government forces-controlled al-Suwayda governorate, Southern Syria.
The USD exchange rate reached 3000 SYP in several Syrian governorates, which is the worst exchange rate for the SYP in Syria’s history, amidst a continuous declination from several months. In 1961 the USD made two SYP, in 2019 it made 47 SYP, while in 2011 the exchange rate declined rapidly, as the SYP lost 97.5 percent of its value from 2011 until now.
