Explosive device kills civilian and injures another in Afrin, Aleppo

On Wednesday, an explosive device planted by unknown persons, exploded in the Syrian National Army-controlled city of Afrin, 43 kilometers north of Aleppo, Northern Syria, killing a civilian and injuring another.
The director of the Civil Defense sector in the Olive Branch area, Ismail al-Naasan, reported to SMART that an explosive device planted in a garbage container exploded in the al-Mahmudiyah neighborhood, killing a civilian and injuring another. The wounded was transferred to the Afrin Military Hospital for treatment.
Al-Naasan added that the explosion occurred while a civilian riding a motorcycle was passing in the neighborhood, and another civilian was throwing rubbish inside the garbage container, killing him immediately and injuring the motorcycle driver.
On April 28, 2020, a truck bomb loaded with fuel barrels exploded in a crowded popular market in the city of Afrin, killing 42 people and injuring 61 others.
Explosions and shootings frequently take place in the Aleppo and Idlib governorates. Such incidents targeted fighters and commanders of the Free Syrian Army and Islamist battalions, and civilians, killing and injuring dozens of them. The perpetrators of most of the incidents remain unknown.
