Explosive device kills child in al-Mayadin city, Deir al-Zor

An explosive device killed a child in the city of al-Mayadin, 45 kilometers southeast of Deir al-Zor, which is controlled by the Syrian government and Iranian militias, Eastern Syria.
On Thursday, local activists reported to SMART that an explosive device left behind by military operations in the area killed the child Haya Allawi al-Dhaif.
The activists added that the Syrian government forces cordoned off the area and arrested two people who were near the site of the explosion.
On Nov. 25, 2019, unknown explosion killed and injured more than 15 children inside a school in the village of al-Taiba in al-Mayadin, Eastern Syria.
Explosions of landmines left behind by military operations killed and injured hundreds of civilians in the governorates of al-Raqqa, Deir al-Zor and al-Hasakah. Activists accused the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Syrian government forces of failing to dismantle the landmines.
