Unknown persons assassinate former FSA fighter in Daraa
Daraa - SMART
On Wednesday night, unknown persons assassinated a former Free Syrian Army (FSA) fighter near the Syrian government-controlled city of Daraa, Southern Syria.
Private sources reported to SMART that unknown persons shot Safi Abdul Karim al-Dakouli while he was returning from his work in the village of Jillen (25 kilometers west of Daraa), killing him immediately.
The sources stated that Safi joined the 4th Division of the Syrian government forces after signing reconciliation with the Syrian government.
On April 21, 2020, unknown persons shot dead a former FSA fighter in the village of Umm Walad in the Daraa governorate.
Frequent shooting incidents occur in the Daraa governorate, targeting Syrian government forces members, former FSA fighters, and former employees of local councils, amidst accusations against the Syrian government forces to be responsible for these incidents.
The Syrian government forces gained total control of the Daraa governorate after concluding reconciliation agreements with FSA factions under a Russian sponsorship. The agreements included a ceasefire, handing over the FSA weapons, and allowing people who refuse to reconcile to head for Northern Syria. The agreement guaranteed that the Syrian government forces would not prosecute those who wish to stay in Daraa.
