Al-Raqqa - SMART

Unknown persons shot and killed two members of the Ahrar al-Sharqiah faction of the Syrian National Army (SNA) near a checkpoint in the village of Hamam al-Turkamn in the Tal Abyad area, 84 kilometers north of the city of al-Raqqa, Northeastern Syria.

A military source, who preferred to stay anonymous, reported to SMART that on Friday night, that unknown persons on a motorcycle targeted and killed the two members on a checkpoint.

On Oct. 24, 2019, a car bomb injured four SNA fighters in the city of Tal Abyad.

On Oct. 13, 2019, the SNA announced gaining control of the city of Tal Abyad and the town of Slouk, northern al-Raqqa near Syrian-Turkish border.

The SNA gained control of these areas in al-Raqqa during a military campaign announced by Turkey on Oct. 9, 2019 against the Syria Democratic Forces. Turkish officials said that the campaign is going under international laws and according to the Charter of the United Nations, while several countries denounced the campaign and called to stop it.
