Daraa - SMART

On Wednesday, unknown persons' shooting killed a former Free Syrian Army (FSA) fighter and injured a civilian in the Syrian government-controlled Daraa governorate, Southern Syria.

Local sources reported to SMART that masked gunmen driving a motorcycle shot Fayez al-Hashish at his men's barber shop in the town of Tal Shihab (14 kilometers west of Daraa), killing him immediately, and injured a civilian. The wounded was transferred to the Daraa National Hospital for treatment.

The sources stated that Hashish was a former FSA fighter before he concluded a reconciliation with the Syrian government forces after they gained control of the area.

On Friday night, unknown persons assassinated a volunteer in the Russian-backed Fifth Assault Corps (FAC) in the Syrian government-controlled Daraa governorate, Southern Syria. On Wednesday night, unknown persons assassinated Safi Abdul Karim al-Dakouli, who was a former FSA fighter, while he was returning from his work place in the village of Jillen near the city of Daraa.

Frequent shooting incidents occur in the Daraa governorate, targeting Syrian government forces members, former FSA fighters, and former employees of local councils, amidst accusations by activists against the Syrian government forces to be responsible for these incidents.

The Syrian government forces gained total control of the Daraa governorate after concluding reconciliation agreements with FSA factions under a Russian sponsorship. The agreements included a ceasefire, handing over the FSA weapons, and allowing people who refuse to reconcile to head for Northern Syria.
