Clashes between SNA factions injure civilians in northern al-Raqqa

On Saturday, the al-Shamiah Front and the al-Majd Legion of the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) clashed in the city of Tal Abyad near the Turkish-Syria border, northern al-Raqqa, Northeastern Syria. The clashes injured several civilians.
An official in the city’s local council and activists reported to SMART that the al-Shamiah Front and the al-Majd Legion clashes using medium and heavy weapons, injuring three civilians. The two factions clashed due to a disagreement regarding the control of commercial highway leading to the Tal Abyad crossing with Turkey.
The sources added that the injured civilians, who received major injuries, were transported to the Tal Abyad Hospital in the city center. The clashes also resulted in damage in property, as mortar shells fell on residential neighborhoods. The unstable security situation due to the clashes forced shop to close and blocked road to the area.
Several clashes between the SNA factions, including the Ahrar al-Sharqiah, al-Hamzah Troop, the Sultan Murad Division, the al-Shamiah Front, and the Sultan Suleiman Shah Legion, occurred in the Turkish-backed SNA-controlled areas, killing and injuring people.
On Oct. 13, 2019, the SNA gained control of the city of Tal Abyad and the town of Slouk, northern al-Raqqa, during a military campaign launched by Turkey against the Syrian Democratic Forces.
