Damascus Countryside - SMART

On Sunday, 90 new members of the fourth course in the Police Command in Eastern Ghouta, Southern Syria graduated to start their duties in the districts' directorates.

Police spokesman Haitham Abdul Ghani told SMART that the course aims to train the members in high professionalism and efficiency. The course included lessons about the relationship between the police and the judiciary and the duties of each field, in addition to the criminal investigation.

Abdul Ghani added that the course included military exercises, such as the joined system, tactics and police science, such as raids.

The President of the Islamic  Army and the Unified Command, Abu Hammam Albouidani, the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Zinedine Abdeen, the Chief of Police and officers of the Military Council of Eastern Ghouta attended the graduation.

On Oct. 9, 2017, the Police Academy Director, Mohamed Jamil al-Biswani, said that the course was held due to the need for police officers in Eastern Ghouta.

Local councils in Eastern Ghouta called on the factions to end the military manifestations in the residential areas. Last month, the local council of Hammouriya demanded the removal of military checkpoints from agricultural lands in the town to manage the civilian areas and to put weapons in the hands of police rather than faction fighters.
